On October 23–24, 2025, in Sosnowiec (Poland), students and teachers from local secondary schools took part in a series of inspiring training sessions and workshops led by Dr. Edyta Sierka from the University of Silesia in Katowice.
The initiative was part of the CICADA4CE project, which promotes urban resilience and climate adaptation through Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) and community engagement.

During the two-day event, participants:

  • developed essential green skills to address today’s environmental challenges,
  • explored what Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) are and how they can transform urban spaces,
  • and designed their own vision of a sustainable city of the future, where people, nature, and technology thrive together in harmony.

🌿 This activity marked an important step toward building local climate awareness and empowering youth as agents of change.
But this is only the beginning! In the coming months, these young leaders and educators will share their knowledge with primary school students, inspiring an even younger generation to take action for our planet.

💬 As Dr. Sierka highlighted, “Engaging students early in real climate action is the best way to create long-term change. Their creativity and enthusiasm show that sustainability starts with education.”

The event received enthusiastic feedback from the participating schools, which also shared the initiative on their Facebook pages:
