Solar4CE-Cities Project in Collaboration with External Stakeholders

Date: 27.02.2025

As part of the project, Energetika Maribor will prepare a study on energy self-sufficiency and the potential for integrating e-mobility charging stations at public facilities in Maribor.

The study will assess the potential of public buildings for the installation of solar power plants and the generation of electricity for self-consumption, while also opening the possibility of selling thermal energy to Energetika Maribor.

As a concrete example, Tabor Hall will be analyzed to encourage synergy between electricity, district heating, and local energy self-sufficiency.

To achieve better results, in addition to the internal teams from JHMB, the Municipality of Maribor (MOM), and Energetika Maribor, we have also invited external stakeholders to participate.

Their role is crucial in providing information about the solar energy market in Slovenia, distribution systems, and future investments in Maribor and beyond.

At a meeting held in January, we presented the project’s goals, participating partners, and the planned pilot project being developed by Energetika Maribor in cooperation with its subsidiary Energija in okolje.

Representatives of external stakeholders (Moja elektrarna – the Slovenian Photovoltaic Association, FERI Maribor, Elektro Maribor, ELES, and Šport Maribor) provided valuable insights and information that will contribute to the project’s development.

They also expressed their willingness for continued collaboration, which opens new possibilities for the successful implementation of solar solutions in the city.

Together, we can make Maribor a model city that harnesses the power of the sun for a sustainable future!
