Date: 17.12.2025
By: CE4CE
The CE4CE Hackathon on Circular Economy in Public Transport successfully concluded, bringing together students from universities in Maribor and Gdańsk to develop innovative and practical solutions for more sustainable urban mobility. Organised within the CE4CE project, the hackathon focused on applying circular economy principles to real-life public transport challenges in European cities. A total of 15 teams involving 30 students worked on pilot cases from Gdynia, Maribor and Szeged, addressing topics such as second-life battery use, resource efficiency, and the reuse of transport components. While students came from Maribor and Gdańsk, some teams chose to tackle tasks related to Szeged. The programme included three brainstorming sessions, one preparation session, and guided self-study work. All participating teams successfully completed the task. The submitted team papers were reviewed, and expert feedback was provided individually to each team, highlighting strengths, grading outcomes, and comparisons with the highest-scoring solutions. In addition, students received their certificates of completion after the final administrative steps. The results and proposed solutions show strong potential for real-world application, and opportunities for further use will continue to be explored with project partners.
