Partner meeting in Maribor

Date: 16.04.2025

The second partner meeting of the Solar4CE-Cities project took place on April 14–15, 2025, in the beautiful city of Maribor, Slovenia, along the Drava River.

Participants reviewed the project’s progress and discussed upcoming tasks, as the initiative has now been running for 10 months. They also had the chance to visit two impressive sites in Maribor that showcase how solar energy can be used efficiently for producing both heating and electricity at the same location — under the concept known as prosumerism.

One visit was to Energetika Maribor, where attendees saw how a solar power plant, energy storage tank, solar carport, and electric vehicle charging station all work together. They also explored a new biomass power plant.

Another highlight was the visit to the Pristan swimming pool, where a solar-powered water-to-water heat pump uses water from the Drava River to provide heating — an innovative example of renewable energy in action.

The event was hosted by Javni Holding Maribor and organized by the project’s Lead Partner, the Municipality of Budapest.
