Interreg Central Europe is gearing up to launch its final call for proposals under the 2021–2027 programme period, focusing on strategic capitalisation projects. Set to open on September 29 2025 and close on November 27. This is a significant opportunity for professionals in the agri-digital sector to amplify the impact of existing project results and foster cross-border collaboration.
The primary aim of this capitalisation call is to reduce the effects of borders on flows and functional linkages among Central European regions, thereby enhancing competitiveness and resilience. With an budged of €23 million from ERDF, the call invites proposals that build upon existing outputs from both transnational and cross-border Interreg projects.
Projects are supposed to further develop, improve, or adapt existing results for past project so they can meet new needs and extend their territorial and policy impact beyond border regions. This represent a tool to scale up innovative solutions that have demonstrated success in previous projects.
Capitalisation can be implemented in two different ways: upstreaming and downstreaming. The first involves that existing outputs and results are taken up and tailored so they can address border issues through new or improved territorial strategies. Downstreaming means that existing outputs and results are tailored in a way that they can be further rolled-out at the most appropriate level. Both approaches are complementary and a combination of the two in one strategic project for capitalisation is possible.
Whether it’s precision farming technologies, digital supply chain management, or sustainable agricultural practices, the emphasis is on enhancing and adapting these solutions for broader application across Central Europe. The call encourages the formation of strategic partnerships that can drive systemic change and address shared challenges in the agri-food sector.
