New Digital Tool “RailHub Finder” Supports European Rail Infrastructure Planning

Date: 05.01.2026
A new free digital mapping tool, the RailHub Finder, is now available, offering an interactive overview of rail-related transport hubs and infrastructure across Europe. The tool enables users to explore railway stations, logistics centres and multimodal transport nodes in a single, harmonised digital environment.

Developed with the support of the Thuringian Ministry for Digital and Infrastructure (Germany), the RailHub Finder is the first Europe-wide application implemented on the open-source Masterportal platform. It allows users to search for specific hubs, access detailed infrastructure information and analyse connections between different transport modes.

The tool is designed to support evidence-based decision-making in spatial planning, transport policy, logistics and research. Public authorities, infrastructure managers, companies and researchers can use the RailHub Finder for location analyses, transport planning and strategic infrastructure assessments.

By visualising rail-related infrastructure in a transparent and comparable way across borders, the RailHub Finder contributes to better coordination and connectivity of European transport networks—objectives that are closely aligned with the Rail4Regions project’s focus on strengthening regional rail systems and improving cross-border accessibility.

The RailHub Finder is available free of charge at www.railhubfinder.eu
