The INACO project is dedicated to improving risk management for cultural and natural heritage assets located in transitional river zones, coastal districts, lakeshores and inland river basins.
At the heart of this initiative is the creation of a new professional role within public administration:
The Risk Manager for Heritage and the Environment.
This role will play a key part in safeguarding heritage assets from the growing threats of natural disasters and climate change, with responsibilities including:
- Conducting risk assessments for climate-related and natural hazards
- Developing and implementing risk management strategies
- Coordinating among local stakeholders and institutions
- Establishing and managing environmental monitoring systems
- Advocating for policy improvements and securing funding
