Green Infrastructure and Climate Neutrality: GreenScape CE at the Forefront

The GreenScape CE project was featured at the “Developing Green Infrastructure towards Climate-Neutral Cities” conference, where our lead partner, REGEA – Regional Energy and Climate Agency of Northwest Croatia, took part in high-level discussions on sustainable urban planning, energy efficiency, and nature-based solutions. The conference underscored the pressing need for green infrastructure, as urban areas are responsible for 70% of global CO₂ emissions and consume over two-thirds of the world’s energy, buildings alone accounting for nearly 40% of energy use. Key takeaways from the event included the importance of integrating sustainability into urban planning to enhance climate resilience, the necessity of long-term strategic support for green infrastructure, and the critical role of citizen engagement in shaping healthier, more livable cities. Collaboration between public and private sectors was also highlighted as a key factor in accelerating sustainable transformation. As an active contributor to this transition, the GreenScape CE project is developing technical, legal, and financing tools to help cities implement effective green infrastructure solutions.
