Once known for its rich linen tradition, the area now hosts a wide range of textile production. From rope making and traditional weaving to bedding and even fire hose manufacturing, there was a wide range of textile techniques to discover.
Many of these companies had already contributed leftover materials to the SYMCRAFT project for the “MIST! Rethinking Textile Waste” networking event. During the visit, students had the opportunity to see the production sites firsthand and better understand where and how textile waste is generated that they are currently working with.
