Against this backdrop, Ms. Steffen, an experienced nursing educator, school administrator, and municipal education expert, decided to complete her internship at the Nursing Research Laboratory at OTH Regensburg. As part of the VReduMED project, she took the opportunity to gain comprehensive, practical, and strategically significant insight into the use of virtual reality (VR) in nursing education—with a particular focus on municipal educational landscapes, school development, and innovative teaching formats.
“Such internships offer a valuable opportunity to give those interested in the field of education a hands-on experience of our project-related work. Direct exchange supports knowledge transfer and creates mutual understanding—an important component of our scientific support in the VReduMED project. At the same time, these insights contribute to ensuring that the project’s impact has a lasting effect—by sparking new ideas and encouraging independent further development in the institutions.” – Prof. Dr. Christa Mohr, Professor of Nursing Science at OTH Regensburg
On Tuesday, September 16, 2025, she actively participated in the project’s daily activities. In the morning, she received an introduction to the processes, tested various VR applications, and reflected on their opportunities and limitations. At midday, the focus shifted to networking with Anja Sloet and Nils Menninger from Strategische Partnerschaft Sensorik e.V. Finally, in the afternoon, discussions in the VR Nursing Lab centered on preparations for the upcoming Care Education Forum on October 23.
Project representatives Anselm Stadler, along with student assistants Cheryl Heinz and Stephanie Teves, engaged in several discussions with Frau Steffen, the hospital representative, as well as Anja Sloet and Nils Menninger from Strategische Partnerschaft Sensorik e.V.
