Electronics Flagship Solution Model – where circularity meets real production

Date: 31.03.2026

In the ICT and electronics sector, circular economy is closely linked to technological development. However, for many SMEs, the challenge lies in understanding how these technologies can be applied in practice to improve production and sustainability.

Within SMART CIRCUIT, companies highlighted difficulties related to integrating new technologies, developing the necessary skills, and aligning sustainability goals with operational efficiency.

The Electronics Flagship Solution Model addresses these challenges by connecting concrete needs with applicable technologies. The resulting service portfolio was tested through pilot activities, demonstrating that circularity can be introduced step by step when supported by appropriate tools.

These include:

·        digital twins for process optimisation

·        AI-based systems for efficiency improvement

·        rapid prototyping for circular product development

·        training and skills development

The results underline that digitalisation is not an additional layer, but a key enabler of circularity.

The continuation of the approach is ensured through an Electronics Flagship Initiative, jointly developed by project partners to further expand and apply the tested solutions in new contexts.

In parallel, partners integrate these services into their innovation ecosystems, providing SMEs with ongoing access to testing environments, training programmes, and demonstration facilities.

Overall, the Electronics Flagship Solution Model connects technology, sustainability, and real production needs, enabling companies to move toward more systemic and sustainable operations.
