Building Resilient, Green Cities Through Collaboration

Date: 17.03.2025
ZRS Bistra Ptuj, as a key partner in the GreenScape CE project, highlights the vital role of collaboration in shaping sustainable and climate-resilient cities across Central Europe. As environmental pressures such as heatwaves and flooding increase, nature-based solutions (NbS) and green infrastructure are proving essential – not optional – in urban planning.

Danilo Čeh from ZRS Bistra Ptuj stresses the power of mutual learning and action within the project. Through the active exchange of practices, expertise, and pilot experiences, cities are co-creating innovative responses tailored to their specific challenges.

Key Insights from the GreenScape CE approach:

• Innovation through collaboration: Cross-border cooperation fosters creative and locally adapted NbS solutions.

• Adaptation to climate change: NbS contribute to mitigating the effects of extreme weather events while enhancing long-term resilience.

• Improved urban quality of life: Green and blue infrastructure not only addresses environmental needs but also improves the well-being of residents by creating more liveable and inclusive public spaces.

As the project advances, partners like ZRS Bistra Ptuj continue to emphasise that only through joint action can cities effectively tackle the complex challenges of the climate crisis. Danilo’s message captures this ethos:

“Together, we can make our cities more liveable and sustainable.”
