David Rodriguez-Duarte (POLITO) attended the 1st IEEE Latin American Conference on Antennas & Propagation in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, during the first week of December. He organised and chaired a special session entitled “Advancements in Electromagnetic-based Medical Techniques and Devices”. He also presented a poster titled “Simplified Multi-channel Calibration for Microwave Imaging Systems” as result of the work MedWaveImage consortium has been doing towards the development of brain microwave imaging systems. The poster provides a detailed description of the calibration procedure implemented for the microwave brain scanner developed by POLITO. Calibration is essential in microwave imaging devices to ensure reliable data acquisition and high-quality image reconstruction; it therefore requires optimized methods tailored to the specific application. This work summarizes the calibration steps and presents a time analysis along with final image reconstructions, demonstrating significant improvements in system performance.
