On 13 March 2026, the City Hall of Sosnowiec hosted the participatory budgeting workshop “Got an Idea? Make It Green! Eco-Actions in Practice.” The event gathered 21 participants, including members of the Sosnowiec Youth City Council and representatives of local NGOs.
The workshop aimed to strengthen civic engagement while encouraging the integration of green solutions into local initiatives. In the first part of the session, participants were introduced to the rules and formal requirements of the participatory budget in Sosnowiec, including the criteria used for project selection.
The second part focused on the role of urban greenery in improving the quality of life in cities. Prof. Edyta Sierka from the University of Silesia presented practical ways to incorporate nature-based solutions into project ideas, explaining their environmental and social benefits and how to design them using scientific knowledge.
The workshop sparked lively discussion and strong engagement. Participants quickly began developing ideas for projects in their own neighborhoods, consulting facilitators on both organizational and technical aspects. Many questions and exchanges helped transform initial ideas into more concrete project proposals that could potentially be submitted to the next edition of the municipal participatory budget.
