The Climate_CRICES project was recently featured by the Leibniz Institute of Ecological and Urban Development (IOER) – a key partner and the coordinator of Work Package 1 – at the AK Naturgefahren/-risiken workshop held on 22–23 May 2025 in Innsbruck, Austria, in the heart of the Eastern Alps.
AK Naturgefahren/-risiken meeting was a gathering that brought together researchers from diverse disciplines to explore hazard risks and resilience in mountain regions. Held in an exhibition-style format, the workshop emphasized open dialogue and knowledge exchange over traditional presentations.
As part of the exhibition, Climate_CRICES was showcased through a poster display, highlighting the project’s transdisciplinary approach to stakeholder engagement in the development of a cross-border climate change adaptation dashboard.
The workshop program included three insightful keynote talks, each focusing on a key dimension of natural hazard research:
– The role of models and simulations as guiding tools for decision-making,
– The integration of local knowledge into risk management practices and
– Conceptual discussions on hazard, vulnerability, and exposure in research contexts.
Each keynote was followed by a lively discussion, encouraging participants to share perspectives across disciplines.
The event concluded with a field excursion that showcased practical avalanche protection measures, providing participants with a grounded look at hazard mitigation strategies in action.
