Excursion to the Mühlviertel Textile Landscape

In Person
Location: Haslach, Austria
Date: 20.07.2026
By: SYMCRAFT

On this inspiring day trip, we journey through the region to visit four unique textile companies. From the renowned Vieböck linen weaving mill to a historic ropery, a fire hose manufacturer, and an inventive craft studio working with reclaimed materials, each stop reveals a different facet of contemporary textile culture.

A special focus lies on what is usually overlooked: production remnants. Selvedges, yarn leftovers, and cutting scraps—materials often discarded—become valuable resources for the days ahead at Symcraft. What others call waste, we see as creative potential.

Travelling together by coach through the Mühlviertel landscape, you’ll also gain insight into the region’s rich textile history and its evolving future. Along the way, we pause for a relaxed lunch at a traditional country inn before returning to Haslach in the late afternoon—full of ideas, materials, and fresh perspectives, just in time for the opening of the summer symposium and exhibitions.
