The Urban Living Lab (ULL) in Břeclav was officially launched on April 25th, 2025, during a meeting held at the pilot site in Charvatská Nová Ves, behind the Penny supermarket. The event brought together representatives from the Břeclav City Council — including the city architect — as well as the Na Valtické Primary School, the Na Valtické Kindergarten, and the Young Forum. Vice-Mayor Jakub Matuška opened the gathering with a welcoming speech.
The first completed phase of the project features newly constructed pavements that enhance accessibility and follow blue-green infrastructure principles, such as local rainwater harvesting. The second phase, which will begin soon, focuses on nature-friendly landscaping. It will include a rest area with seating and designated spots for environmental monitoring.
The initiative also fosters education and community engagement, with planned activities in cooperation with local schools and the kindergarten. The Břeclav ULL is a strong example of how local collaboration can shape more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable urban environments.
