At this year’s URBIS – The Smart Cities Meetup in Brno, we had the opportunity to discuss with representatives of municipalities, urban planners and architects how cities can better prepare public investments for the impacts of climate change.
Together with colleagues from CTU UCEEB and Prague 5 Municipality, we presented the SuPeRBE Project and introduced the RBTool (Resilient Building Tool) and RNTool (Resilient Neighbourhood Tool) methodologies developed to assess climate resilience at both building and neighbourhood scales.
Using the Nový Barrandov pilot area in Prague 5 as a practical example, we demonstrated how resilience assessment can support municipalities in:
- identifying climate-related risks
- comparing alternative development scenarios,
- prioritising adaptation measures
- integrating climate resilience into planning and investment decisions.
The discussion that followed confirmed a growing interest among municipalities in practical tools that help move from reactive responses to strategic, data-informed decision-making. Participants shared valuable insights on the challenges they face in public space planning and highlighted the need for methodologies that support long-term resilience and quality public development.
A big thank you to everyone who joined the discussion and contributed their perspectives.
Activities were carried out within the framework of the SuPeRBE project, co-funded by the Interreg Central Europe Programme.
