We are pleased to share that the first REDU-CE-D pilot visit has been successfully carried out!

On 24 March 2026, partners and stakeholders gathered in Budapest (Hungary) at Freeport of Budapest Logistics Ltd for the first pilot testing visit, marking the official start of on-site pilot activities within the project.

The visit focused on the water transport sector and represented a key moment to test the implementation of a customised Environmental Management System (EMS) based on ISO 50001. The pilot targets energy consumption areas directly managed by the port authority, including heating systems, outdoor lighting, and transport-related operations.

The day was structured into two main sessions. The morning session involved Hungarian stakeholders and provided an overview of the REDU-CE-D project objectives, together with insights into the energy strategy of Freeport of Budapest and its ISO 50001 journey. Participants explored the role and potential of customised EMS solutions in transport companies, followed by an interactive round table discussion where experiences, feedback, and expectations were shared. In the afternoon, a closed session was dedicated to project partners and associated partners, offering a deeper technical perspective on the EMS implementation. Discussions focused on the planning and development of the customised EMS tool, its functionalities, and future expansion possibilities. Partners also exchanged insights on their current status and future plans regarding EMS adoption and ISO standards implementation.

This pilot visit represents a crucial step in validating the EMS solutions developed within the REDU-CE-D project. As outlined in the project communication strategy, pilot testing visits play a key role in demonstrating solutions in real operational environments, engaging stakeholders, and collecting valuable feedback to refine and improve the tools.

The Budapest pilot is the first of four planned visits across different transport sectors, followed by upcoming pilot activities in Dubrovnik (air transport), Trieste (rail transport), and Krakow (urban transport).
