During last autumn, two classes of high school students spent an intensive week at FabLab Brno working on a practical challenge prepared in collaboration with AT&T.
Their task was to design and prototype a meeting room reservation system using Arduino and an E-Ink display. Although most students started with very limited prior experience, they quickly learned the basics of Arduino programming and worked with technologies such as 3D printing and laser cutting to develop their solutions.
At the end of the week, each team presented its prototype directly to representatives from AT&T and received valuable feedback from industry professionals.
The program showed how quickly students can turn ideas into working prototypes when given the right tools, guidance, and a real-world challenge.
This activity was organized as part of the DiSTT project, which aims to strengthen digital and technical skills through hands-on learning and collaboration with industry.
