INSIGHTS FROM THE VII INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS “CITY–WATER–QUALITY OF LIFE”

Date: 21.10.2025

On behalf of Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences  (UPWr), Joanna Kamińska attended the WaterCity conference in Wrocław. Although UPWr did not have a dedicated presentation slot, participation enabled the team to follow current trends and exchange experiences related to urban water management and climate adaptation strategies.

The Congress highlighted the importance of integrating water, energy, food, and ecosystem management through the Nexus approach. Sessions focused on catchment-based urban planning, enhancing flood protection infrastructure, and implementing digital monitoring systems. Experts also addressed the psychosocial impacts of flooding and the role of education in fostering community engagement and climate awareness.

Participation in such interdisciplinary events strengthens the Climate Crises Interreg Project’s mission to develop innovative solutions for urban resilience, combining research, policy, and community-focused action. By sharing knowledge and learning from international best practices, initiatives like WaterCity help ensure that cities are prepared for the challenges posed by climate change and water-related risks.
