On 5 August 2025, Hochschule Landshut became a hub for hydrogen innovation as Technologiezentrum Energie (TZE) and HyFuture GmbH brought together industry experts, municipal representatives, and potential stakeholders for a hands-on workshop exploring how hydrogen can power Europe’s clean energy future. The event was more than just presentations, it was a space to plannify and aim for real projects, as participants got a first look at the Decision Support Tool and Hydrogen Potential Model, developed by the University of Zagreb and the Energy Institute Hrvoje Požar, and learned how these tools will guide the planning and investment of viable hydrogen projects.
Key highlights:
💡Real pilot opportunities in Landkreis Landshut and Landkreis Passau, supported by local authorities and energy planners.
💡Funding insights across Central Europe and cooperation models. From Public-Private Partnerships to community-driven projects and hybrid financing schemes.
💡On-the-ground examples of H2 Valleys, direct industrial integration, and decentralized hydrogen production.
The discussion went beyond technology—participants agreed that producing hydrogen is only half the challenge. The real key? Creating strong demand in sectors like industry, transport, and heating, while integrating hydrogen with renewables, battery storage, and heat systems for flexible, resilient energy networks.
This workshop was part of the HyEfRe project, aiming to strengthen Europe’s hydrogen ecosystem and inspire concrete, bankable green hydrogen projects, not only in Germany, but across all 8 partner countries.
