The goal? To make therapy more accessible, inclusive, and self-managed — and to do so by actively involving users in every step of the process.
The Living Lab brings together two forward-thinking SMEs:
- Fysor GmbH, developers of Apelvo, a sensor-based, gamified training system for pelvic floor therapy;
- USE-Ing. GmbH, a leading agency in human-centred design and usability evaluation.
Together, they address some of the most pressing challenges in healthcare:
- Access to care in times of staff shortages
- Long-term patient engagement through gamification
- Scalable methods for evaluating digital health solutions across regions
Apelvo, developed by Fysor, enables discreet, mobile training for all genders and age groups. Through the pilot, the company is collecting structured feedback from real users to refine the system and promote a shift toward self-managed rehabilitation supported by digital tools.
In parallel, USE-Ing. is conducting structured focus groups to assess the usability, inclusiveness, and real-world adaptability of Apelvo. Their work is not limited to product validation: the goal is to develop transferable evaluation methods that can benefit future innovations across the RehAllianCE network.
By bringing together technological expertise and deep user involvement, the pilot in Baden-Württemberg showcases how co-creation can lead to practical, effective, and equitable solutions in rehabilitation.
