But what exactly is the Roadmap—and why does it matter?

From Vision to Action
The Roadmap is more than just a document. It is a practical tool designed to support a wide range of stakeholders, from care educators and MedTech companies to policymakers and cluster organizations. It outlines how VR can be used to modernize care training, address regional disparities, and foster transnational collaboration.
Structured in seven chapters, the Roadmap covers everything from baseline research and stakeholder insights to policy recommendations and implementation measures. It also includes a phased action plan with short-, medium-, and long-term steps to ensure sustainable impact.
Tackling Real Challenges
Central Europe faces pressing challenges in care education: staff shortages, fragmented training systems, and unequal access to digital tools. The Roadmap responds to these issues by offering concrete solutions, such as standardized VR lab setups, onboarding strategies for VR devices, and guidance on how to embed VR in care education.
By aligning technological innovation with regional needs, the Roadmap helps make care professions more attractive, accessible, and future-ready.
A Living Document
Recognizing the fast pace of technological change, the Roadmap is designed as a living document. It will be updated based on feedback from the VReduMED Care Education Forum and future pilot actions. Together with the upcoming VReduMED Handbook, it forms a complete package: strategic vision meets practical implementation.
