At Impact Days 2025, held in Vienna on May 13–14, Finpiemonte participated in the session “Financing the Future: Innovative Instruments for Entrepreneurship & Innovation,” as part of the FI4INN project.
Finpiemonte’s presentation highlighted the power of tailored financial instruments to drive entrepreneurship, innovation, and regional development—especially in diverse and evolving economic ecosystems. The focus was on addressing the real financial needs of businesses, particularly SMEs, and the importance of flexible, responsive capital to enable digital transformation, green innovation, and global growth.
Key messages emphasized moving beyond traditional bank lending. Alternatives such as private equity, crowdfunding, and ESG-aligned investments were explored as vital components of a modern funding mix. The session also addressed structural barriers faced by SMEs, including limited financial literacy, fragmented access to risk capital, and the complexity of funding landscapes—especially in underserved or non-tech sectors.
From a policymaker’s perspective, Finpiemonte introduced a range of innovative financial instruments designed to generate both economic and social impact. These include blended finance models, Social Impact Bonds, revolving funds, and co-investment platforms. The presentation stressed the importance of tailoring financial strategies to local needs and capacities.
Drawing on its experience as a regional financial institution, Finpiemonte shared real-world examples of how these tools can reduce investment risk, crowd in private capital, and strengthen local innovation ecosystems. The session reinforced how smart finance is critical to building resilient, inclusive, and future-ready economies—core to the mission of FI4INN.
