Head of the DiSTT project dr. David Škaroupka from the Brno University of Technology (CZ) will have a keynote speech on the Fab Conference with the theme Digital Age Competences on Monday, July 7th. See more details on the Fab25 website.
Engineer Jan Vítek from strojLAB at the Brno University of Technology will offer a hands-on workshop Advanced Strategies for Clay 3D Printing on Monday, July 7th. This hands-on workshop offers a complete introduction to ceramic 3D printing using parametric design. Participants will work with a pre-made Grasshopper script to customize a design and generate printable G-code. Each customized object will then be printed from clay, giving participants the opportunity to experience the full workflow — from digital design to physical fabrication. The process includes an explanation of the technology, printing setup, and advanced clay printing strategies.
Another hands-on workshop on Sunday, July 6th, called Algorithmic modelling with Grasshopper – not just for clay 3D printing will be conducted by engineer Petr Křivohlavý from strojLAB (Brno University of Technology, CZ). This workshop focuses on algorithmic modeling with Grasshopper and is designed for beginners or those new to the software. Participants will learn the fundamentals of Grasshopper and apply them to create a script generating geometry for clay 3D printing. However, these skills are widely applicable beyond this use case. By the end of the session, attendees will have a solid foundation in Grasshopper for various design and fabrication applications.
The last part of our programme is the working group Re/upskilling at FabLabs for a Resilient Labour Market on Monday, July 7th. Join this working group to explore how the FabLab network can drive re/upskilling in a fast-changing job market. We’ll present the EU-funded DiSTT project, including pilot results with different target groups and the adaptable Digital Skills Transformation Toolkit – ready for any FabLab or makerspace. Discover its potential and share your feedback!
