A rapidly growing world population and increasing energy consumption are leading to a continuous rise of greenhouse gas emissions. Resulting climate change and extreme weather events represent one of the greatest challenges in Europe. RURES
sets to exploit the potential of renewable energies (RES) and energy efficiency (EE) in rural regions as they have a great potential for reaching energy autonomy. Within RURES local support group composed of all relevant actors will be established acting as a regional energy network for implementing energy efficiency plans.
Best-practices of alternative financing models for EE/RES measures will be researched and become the basis for new feasibility studies on how to implement energy efficiency plans. The calculator tool (for municipal taxes and other incomes) will highlight the importance of a community-oriented regional development and further underline the benefits and added value generated by exploiting EE/RES.
In cooperation with Public Institution for the Development of the Medjimurje County REDEA (formerly – Regional development agency Medjimurje REDEA Ltd.), medjimurje Energy Agency Ltd. MENEA organised 5th Local Support Group (LSG) meeting within the implementation of project RURES – Promote the sustainable Use of Renewable Resources and Energy Efficiency in Rural Regions. The mentioned meeting took place on 25th of September 2018 at Technology – Innovation Centre Medjimurje.
On Friday, October 12, 2018, in the framework of the RURES project, the director of the Local Energy Agency Pomurje, Bojan Vogrinčič, officially handed over in management the Solar E-Tree to the mayor of the Municipality of Puconci, Ludvik Novak. The event was organized on the occasion of the holiday of the Municipality of Puconci.
The Slovenian partner's investment has been completed. E-Tree (solar tree) is a facility that symbolizes the protection of the environment and ecological values. It aims to raise awareness of the
community on environmental sustainability. It is made from environmental friendly materials, energy produced by solar cells.

schools. It will reduce the energy
demand for the heating of the
building and quality of the air.
It is foreseen to install a PV-plant
shaped in the form of a tree at a
public place in Puconi, it will be
equipped with PV-panels for current prodution which can be used for
charging Smartphones, bycicles and other e-mobile devises for the exploitation of renewable energy system (RES).
It is foreseen to establish an
energy-yard (energy competence centre) at an public building formally used as public school. There various small scale RES power plants are
eastablished to demonstrate new
technologies and to ensure the trust in novel RES solutions and there importance for creating a sustainable energy market.
It is foreseen to establish new solutions for increased energy
efficiency and RES at an frequntly
visited administratvive building which afterwards will act as demonstration building. It allows to pratically see how the solutions can be integrated to public building stock and further office buildings.
Project partnership consist of eleven institutions from six Central Europe regions.
