Background of the pilot action
Within the CORCAP project, logistics concepts for new intermodal services along the OEM corridor are to be developed and tested. The focus is on the line from the Rostock seaport via Saxony to the Ustecký kraj in the Czech Republic. This is based on analyses of the flow of goods and the market potential for selected goods and types of goods, destinations and intermodal hubs. Potential customers and transport service providers are to be identified and transport solutions initiated.
Description of the pilot action
With a stakeholder group of operators and project partners, offers, freight structure and potential customers are analysed. Based on this analysis, customers and operators are approached and a new train concept is developed. The train concept gives indications of the selective feasibility and the focus of the locations to be included. The focus of the efforts is on the realisation of new intermodal rail freight services as well as wagonload services. Cooperation is taking place with associated partners such as LINEAS, Stena Lines and VTG Rail Logistics.
