LOW-CARB Final Conference (Online)

The LOW-CARB Final Conference was originally planned to be held in the City of Leipzig, home to the project's lead partner Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe (LVB). Unfortunately this was not possible with the onset of the Corona virus's first wave accross Europe during June 2020. The LOW-CARB project was consequently extended to allow its partnering cities more time to run their pilots (given the fact that many European cities had been completely locked down during the first half of the year).  The final conference was therefor postponed to the 25th of November 2020 and held instead in an interactive online meeting. The closing event, in which the project's results and future exploitations were disseminated, was a great success inspite of the limitations that the year had presented. While it was sad that the partners could not come together for a final meeting and celebratory dinner, all parties involved were elated that the project's activities could still be finished on a high note.

The online conference was attend by 55 participants which began with a brief address from the project's lead partner. This was followed by a presentation from InterregCE about  future low-carbon projects that they will finance and what the next programming period would entail. Thereafter, LOW-CARB's main project manager gave a summary about the project and its aims and objectives. A large portion of the morning was then dedicated to discussing "LOW-CARB strategies and SUMP action plans", key project outputs that will become a part of the LOW-CARB legacy to guide practitioners in future low carbon planning. More of LOW-CARB's outputs, its practical planning tools, were then presented with preliminary results on each of their usage and future value. Finally, each of the pilot partners took turns summarising their pilot measures, results, exploitations, and lessons learned. All in all, it was a productive morning hihglighting the many achievements of this milestone project from InterregCE!
