WORK PACKAGE T1
Integration an mainstreaming of found solutions to better connect rural regions
WP T1 aims to promote the mainstreaming and integration of results of previous CE projects, foremost Rumobil, through two action plans/one strategy which are addressed to the competent decision-makers for public transport services. At the same time, the inclusive Rumobil Transnational Strategy receives an update in response to the growing availability of smart IT tools and new experiences made on transnational level. The action plans, underpinned by an updated strategy paper, demonstrate to public transport shareholders beyond the territories already impacted by Rumobil and other Central Europe projects in the passenger transport domain how these results can be adapted and used to the benefit of rural residents' mobility.
The activities implemented under this work package include:
- Action plan for infrastructure investments (Slovakia)
The volume of individual passenger transport is constantly growing also in the Trenčín self-governing region in Slovakia and the local government is looking for solutions to provide public transport services in a way attractive to users. One of the concepts that comes to the fore is Mobility as a Service (MaaS). This concept can also include the Demand responsive transport. The aim of the action plan document is to point out the advantages of using transport on demand and to indicate the possibilities of its implementation in a selected rural areas of the Trenčín self-governing region.
- Action plan for smart on-demand busses (Italy)
The knowhow gained in the ProntoBus experience in Modena and the software for its booking and service planning will be summarized. Together with the analysis of other Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) services operating in Europe and worldwide, it will be used to design an action plan concept for the introduction of a smart on-demand bus network. Currently available and planned datasets concerning the passengers’ PT mobility will also be taken into account. The action plan will be shared in a workshop with RegiaMobil APs in order to receive feedback from decision-makers.
- Strategy for reinvent trail operation for tourism destination (Croatia)
The general concept of HŽPP work within T.1.3. is to presents tourist train trials in the summer of 2021. Documentation aims at analysing the possibility to mainstream the concept of tourist trains and spread it among interested operators. For creating special service, it was necessary to start a dialogue with local public authorities, NGOs and other PT service providers and include them as interested parties. By analysing economic possibilities of each interested party, it was possible for sustainable operator to arrange special eco-friendly service and expand the scope of service to different passenger groups. The subject of the analysis are one-day trips by rail, where HŽPP is interested in defining existing stakeholders, whose interests coincide with the interests of people wanting to take those trips. The documentation and report following service will serve as an input for drafting a strategy on cooperation with stakeholders when organizing similar trains in the future. The experience will show different types of tourist excursions, the difference between events organized and resources needed, as well as define joint actions needed to implement the concept. The purpose of study is to capitalize experiences gathered during the organization of special tourist trains towards rural areas and create a platform for cooperation amongst different stakeholders for joint cause which is to provide inhabitants from rural/remote city areas with a public transport system, to connect to major city centre and hub, which is in the Croatian case, Zagreb. The experience from previous projects (SubNodes & Rumobil) will be used and analysed in order to provide a view about some general aspects on how to improve public transportation systems in remote areas with intention to be expanded to city-to-city travels. The purpose of this work paper is to show how use of railways for tourist purposes and how the upgrading of existing infrastructure can raise awareness about the convenience of railways to reach a rural area destination from the metropolitan area.
- Updating the Rumobil transnational strategy
RUMOBIL Transnational strategy (from 2018) will be updated on the basis of identified gaps and areas where new knowledge has been acquired. The analysis of completed pilot activities of WP T2 will be used for this. The results will be summarized in a revision by the whole consortium and will be prepared for the sharing of PT stakeholders during the RegiaMobil final event.
