Work package T1: Developing carbon footprint and energy efficiency toolkit
The main objective of Work Package 1 is to set up the innovative web based FEEDSCHOOLS toolkit consisting of:
- Energy and Resource Efficiency Application (ERE App) for calculating energy savings and reductions of CO2 emissions resulting from implementation of various energy efficiency and RES measures.
- Database on novel energy efficiency technologies and good practices: innovative techniques, materials, components and systems, for retrofitting existing school buildings and converting them to NZEB buildings.
- Financial Application with optimal funding models available in Central Europe, from ERDF and national levels, as well as from the private sector, that will allow public bodies to afford costs of schools NZEB renovation.
The toolkit will simplify energy audit process allowing for significant economic and time savings while choosing the most advantageous NZEB renovation plan based on best available technologies and practices, along with selection of suitable mechanism for the investment financing.
Elaboration of the toolkit will be based on a preliminary analysis and data collection on energy (climatic data, typical construction characteristics and energy performances, best retrofitting practices) and environmental characteristics (materials, CO2 emission factors) of the school buildings in each region. Indicators used in local SEAPs will be considered in order to identify the best regional experiences. ENEA (Leader of Work Package T1) and GEA are responsible for technical content of the toolkit and development of the database of best practices in involved areas. FEEDSCHOOLS toolkit structure and functionality will be designed taking into account needs of its final users, that will be identified by institutional partners.
The toolkit will be targeted to energy and financial managers in municipalities, schools management and technical staff, as well as other local authorities and decision makers involved in the process of school buildings renovation. It can also become a useful tool for students and academics from the related research fields.
The user-friendly FEEDSCHOOLS toolkit, translated into national languages, will be based for free use on ENEA website. Project Leader guarantees its maintenance beyond the project duration.
