Preparatory Trainings for the Upcoming Transnational Study Visits

In September 2020 all project partners hosted trainings to prepare important actors and stakeholders for the peer-review process of Best Practices and the transnational study visits.

There trainings were quite successful and the SIforREF team is 

very appreciative for the participation and support.

We look forward to welcoming the input and insights of all participants during the transnational study visits. 


  Bologna

On September 18th 2020 ASP Bologna, in collaboration with Teatro dell’Argine association, held the working seminar on social innovation in the field of refugee integration.

The working group was composed by actors from different realities: Municipality of Bologna, pratictioners from ASP, NGOs working with refugees and a cultural mediator with a migrant background, each of them with a specific perspective.

The discussion among the participants was conducted around two main issues: safety and risk of marginalization of refugees on the one hand, and narration and communication on the other hand, starting from the COVID-19 emergency and focusing the brainstorming on the use of communication tools to support a positive narration about migrants.   Parma

On Wednesday 23 September the SIforREF Parma Team held a seminar aimed at deepening and analyzing the main challenges to be faced to support the socio-economic integration of refugees. Companies, universities, NGOs, politicians and refugees participated and each of them offered a specific vision of the issue, in the belief that complementarity is necessary to understand complex situations

and find effective and innovative solutions.

The presence of different actors has been invaluable for the construction of an approach increasingly oriented towards producing social innovation. A fruitful working day and another small step in the commitment to support the inclusion of refugees.


  Ljubljana

On the 9th of September of 2020, the Ljubljana’s SIforREF team organized a working seminar on refugee local governance dynamics and approaches, including peer reviews of the practice covering the inclusion of migrants and refugees labor market. The workshop consisted of 5 stakeholders who will further participate in study visits

to learn more about successful and different integration practices. The presentation of Abi Falafel, a migrant-based company, operating in the hospitality and tourism industry, helped the stakeholders and the SIforREF team understand the challenges and difficulties of the labor market and migrants’ inclusion in it."

  Vienna

Our SIforREF Viennese team held its stakeholder preparation training on September 24th, 2020. Eight external stakeholders from politics, science and practice took part. It was important to the team to have diverse actors participate in the training. The team collaborated on a peer review of the integration measure "Integration Year". This was done by using the method known as “Collective Story Harvesting,

where a graduate of the integration year program talked about his experiences. Afterwards, we discussed and analysed his experiences. There were lively discussions in which especially those affected were able to report on their day to day realities. This enriched the results of the workshop immensely.


  Berlin

On Thursday 24 Sept. Berlin's SIforREF team held a preparatory travel-study workshop with various Berlin based, organisations, networks and actors. We are very interested in and impressed by the amazing work being done in the field of refugee integration. The workshop was filled with presentations and fruitful discussions, and the time flew by.

We organised this gathering because we believe that the achievements and work of these actors will help our team to better understand how the concept of social innovation can be improved and better implemented in the creation of inclusive policy measures for refugees.
