Murska Sobota (Slovenia)
Municipality of Murska Sobota is the second smallest Slovenian city municipality. It has a good motorway connection with central Slovenia, a growing industrial and trade zone, shopping centres on the outskirts of the city as well as educational institutions and recreational areas. The municipality of Murska Sobota has been working on creating a greener city, trying to reduce CO2 emissions and reduce predominant use of personal vehicles for mobility. Several measures have already been implemented but more need to be done. Thus the Municipality has joined the project to test the demand-responsive public transport and to further stimulate inhabitants to use public transport for personal mobility.

Role in the project:
MURS will focus on transfer of best practices from project partners and will share the know-how gained in the project with stakeholders and residents. In WPT1 it will participate to needs definition phase and ensure the effective increasing of awareness and competences through the Local to Think Global (LTG) trainings and will create the Local Mobility Forum (LMF). In WPT2 it will implement a pilot to develop an app for DRT services that will be tested in order to provide better connections to main corridors. In WPT3 it will participate to SMACKER Quality Partnership for seamless Mobility Governance (SQPM) and the related events.
Activities in the project:
Implementation of pilot action in region of Pomurje (and Murska Sobota as central point):
- Investigation of needs for demand-responsive transport service, identification of potential routes
- Development of dedicated ICT platform for management of DRT service and collection of real-time data to be used for incentives identification and nudging system
- Creation of a new demand-responsive transport service to decrease use of personal vehicles
- Deployment of a behaviour change campaign and a marketing campaign promoted among residents/tourists/stakeholders in the area.
