On November 7, the midterm conference of the Interreg Alpine Space project GRETA will take place.
The GRETA project aims to demonstrate the potential of Near-surface Geothermal Energy (NSGE) in the Alpine Space and to share knowledge to encourage the integration of this technology into future energy plans. The objective is to contribute to the energetic transition by valorizing this renewable energy, which is sometimes forgotten, and adapt it to the specific stakes of the Alpine area.
The conference will address different topics of GRETA, such as:
- The chances and challenges for NSGE in the Alpine Space (e.g. potential mapping, legal requirements),
- The preliminary results from all case study areas (Davos - CH, Sonthofen - DE, Leogang - AUT, Parc des Bauges - FR, Cerkno - SLO, Aosta - IT).
Participants are encouraged to contribute to the conference by presenting their current work on SGE topics at the poster session. The conference is free of charge. For proper planning of the event, participants are kindly asked to register until September 30 at http://www.alpine-space.eu/event-details/1530.
On November 8, the third knowledge exchange workshop, organized by the Interreg Central Europe project GeoPLASMA-CE, will take place between 10:00 and 13:00 at the venue of the GRETA mid-term conference. This international expert workshop will focus on the current policies and legal framework in central European countries and their implications on using shallow geothermal energy. During this workshop, preliminary results and findings of the Interreg projects GeoPLASMA-CE and GRETA will be presented and discussed. The workshop also aims at questioning the adequacy of the current legal framework and policies regarding shallow geothermal energy and seeks for strategies to support state of the art management strategies and to foster the use of shallow geothermal methods in central Europe including the Alpine region. Please register for this event at firstname.lastname@example.org.
In the afternoon of November 8, GeoPLASMA-CE will also organize a workshop on implementing shallow geothermal energy in local energy planning strategies. We will take a look on existing energy planning strategies, especially Sustainable Energy Action Plans, of municipalities in Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria and Slovenia and discuss relevant aspects for the inclusion of SGE. Based on the findings of this workshop, we will afterwards create a stakeholder survey on integration shallow geothermal use in local energy planning strategies. This workshop is also accessible to the public. If you are interested to join, please register at email@example.com.
