GeoPLASMA-CE presented at the “EUropa in Wien” event in Vienna

GeoPLASMA-CE was presented at an excursion at the urban development area “Seestadt Aspern”. Gregor Goetzl, the project coordinator of GeoPLASMA-CE, explained the shallow groundwater monitoring activities performed by the Geological Survey of Austria in the framework of GeoPLASMA-CE. He highlighted the benefits of long term groundwater monitoring for a better understanding of the thermal impacts of urban areas on shallow groundwater bodies and the implications on shallow geothermal energy use. The outcomes of this monitoring campaign will be used to for creating integrative maps on available resources and limitations on the use of open loop systems.
