5th Polish Geothermal Congress
11-13 October 2016
The Polish Geothermal Congress is the largest and the most significant national event in the field of geothermal energy allowing the scientists, representatives of administration, self-government, investors as well as drilling and consulting companies from the whole country to meet and exchange information about the newest developments, research results, practical applications and innovative solutions. The 5th congress took place in Mszczonów nearby Warsaw (southern Mazovia) from 11th to 13th October 2016. Its main organizer was the Polish Geothermal Society together with the Municipality of Mszczonów, while the Polish Geological Institute – National Research Institute was one of the sponsors.
The programme of the congress contained the plenary sessions, scientific and technical presentations, presentation of posters, panel discussions and a visit to the geothermal plant and a spa. The GeoPLASMA-CE project was presented by Wiesław Kozdrój, Małgorzata-Kozdrój and Marek Hajto, representing both Polish project partner institutions. The poster entitled GeoPLASMA–CE: a new international project in support of development of the shallow geothermal Energy in Poland and Central Europe showed the general information about the project. It presented the partnership, project aims and mission, roles and responsibilities of the Polish partners, geothermal mapping areas, expected results and possible practical applications. The panel discussion on the 12th October was another opportunity to disseminate information about the GeoPLASMA-CE project. Short introduction speech given by Wiesław Kozdrój raised a vivid interest in the audience and a strong expectation of a successful project implementation.
