Smart traffic management system for the Budapest Freeport
The Freeport of Budapest Logistics has elaborated the logical and physical design of the smart traffic management system, specified the work plan and milestones of implementation and identified possible hardware and software solutions. The pilot investment was chosen to take place at Gate II, where the infrastructure is already suitable for the project, and at Gate North, where the system can be validated for lorries as well by capturing the license plate of trailers.
The main feature of the system is a smart navigation system that provides offline and online route planning on traditional satellite navigation systems and smart online devices. It will be supported by additional elements like e.g. a kiosk, screens, sensors and plates.
The investment scheme was chosen to be one of the pilot actions because there is no solution on the market for such type and size of intermodal logistic centers. Such a solution could be an important pioneer approach for the digitalisation of terminals. The partners hope that the experiences made with this pilot will enable other logistics centers in Central Europe to implement comparable IT solutions in the future.
