AMIIGA tool (WPT1) presented at 46TH international conference of Hydrogeologist in Malaga
On 24th of September AMIIGA tool “inverse modeling” developed within the WPT1 was presented during the international conference of Hydrogeologist in Malaga “Groundwater Management and Governance coping with water Scarcity”, which took place on September 23-27 2019 in Malaga in Spain. In last 6 months project, Politecnico di Milano concluded the development of new tools for ground water management in FUA's.
This conference was organized by International Committee of Hydrogeologist.
One of the tools developed within the AMIIGA project was chosen to be presented during session devoted to urban hydrogeology. The forward stochastic particle tracking approach was presented by Dr. Luca Alberti. This approach is useful to identify the area involved in a probabilistic way by a suspected sources. One of the advantages of the stochastic methodology is to provide maps showing areas with an associated occurrence frequency where Point Sources (PS) may contribute to contaminant concentration values. This kind of maps with relevant information can support Public Authorities in decision-making process to plan and prioritize groundwater investigations in those areas that are most likely involved by PS contamination (for example contaminated public wells). Thanks to this congress on hydrogeology soon it should be possible to apply the AMIIGA tools on a Spanish FUA.
