Project name Green Industrial Parks – a planning perspective
Objective Objective 2.2
Priority Low carbon cities and regions
Aim The aim of the project is the development of strategies, pilot studies and tools for spatial planning and implementation of industrial parks with climate-friendly carbon footprint. A climate-friendly carbon footprint can be achieved by:
1. Energy supply with a mix of renewable energies, produced in or near industrial parks,
2. Implementation and support of industrial synergies,
3. Initiation of new green industrial parks by strengthening cooperation of stakeholders in pilot projects and by knowledge transfer,
4. Innovative approaches for the supply of industrial parks with renewable energies (e.g. power to gas, green IT and energy storage systems).
Results Development of strategy- and action plans
• Perspectives for spatial planning: regional action plans and recommendations for spatial planning institutions to plan and establish industrial parks with a climate-friendly carbon footprint

Development of innovative planning tools
• Online tool to support actors wanting to establish industrial synergies (e.g. automatic analysis of possible industrial synergies in existing parks)

Pilot Studies
• Pilot studies in participating countries

Training
• Development of an e-book and training session for actors and stakeholders
