GreenerSites brownfield regeneration plans for the Venice FUA presented during an international workshop

The presentation was held in the frame of an the international conference within the National Research project "The city as a cure and care of the city"

GreenerSites brownfield regeneration plans for the Venice Functional Urban Area were presented last 12 December by the City of Venice's expert Marta Valente during the international workshop ''CuraCittà1 from Venice to Marghera and back''. The workshop, attended by several technicians and experts, was organized by IUAV – University Institute of Architecture of Venice in the frame of an the international conference within the National Research project "The city as a cure and care of the city", involving also the Universities of Rome and Naples. The key cases of Bagnoli in Naples and La Sapienza neighborhood in Rome were also discussed as part of the research project. The workshop was aimed at investigating the state of environmental and urban health of Marghera and identify urban solutions in line with the promotion of healthy lifestyles in the Venice mainland and City.   Starting from this approach, Marta Valente presented the GreenerSites plans on brownfield remediation in the pilot area settled in Porto Marghera highlighting the positive connections between the 2 projetcs and how a sustainable brownfield rehabilitation might have positive effect on Marghera downtown as well as on the whole Functional Urban Area.
The audience was very interested and intervened with several questions and requests of data on soil/water quality and on remediation state of art.
