GeoPLASMA-CE at the 26. Meeting of the German Association for Hydrogeology at Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Germany

21.-24. 3. 2018

The meetings of the German Association for Hydrogeology represent the largest Hydrogeology conferences in German speaking countries. This year’s conference focused on groundwater in the context of mining, energy and urban areas. More than 1000 participants could choose from a divers program, including presentations, excursion and trainings. Two sessions were related to shallow geothermal energy and therefore especially interesting for GeoPLASMA-CE:

  • Geothermal use of groundwater – consequences, quality control, new techniques
  • Groundwater temperatures in urban areas – monitoring, managing and understanding anthropogenic influences

In the first session, Cornelia Steiner, scientific researcher in the project GeoPLASMA-CE, presented the workflow for open loop systems, which was developed for our project. Amongst other topics, the discussions during the sessions revolved around the difficulties to elaborate groundwater temperature maps.
